Bring Out the Buddha. With a title so enlightened, it’s no wonder listening to the soulful first album from Michael Cross and Karen Marie can feel like a spiritual experience. And for good reason. Karen is a long-time musician and singer, and blues-loving Michael has contributed so much to Austin’s live music scene that the mayor named June 21 as "Michael Cross Day." Catch this duo live when they perform with Texas On Tour.

When it comes to Texas...

Most remote gig in Texas you have ever played?

That gig would be a wedding we played about 50 miles from Victoria. It was on a ranch where they trucked in a huge tent.

What''s your definition of Texas music?

My definition of Texas music is music that originated on Texas soil -- music that is big and beautiful like the state itself. I could list some of my favorite Texas artists but that list would be too long. I can say at the top of that list would be Bob Wills!

Best place to see Texas music?

That’s easy! Gruene Hall – with over a hundred years of great music. There's nothing like listening to Delbert McClinton under the summer moon at Gruene Hall.

Favorite Texas album?

Texas Flood by Stevie Ray Vaughn.

Place you''d take someone who''s never been to Texas?

Enchanted Rock near Fredericksburg! That’s a hard one because there are so many great places to go in Texas.

Where in Texas feels most unlike Texas?

The most unlike Texas feeling place for me is the Lost Pines area near Bastrop.
