A 12-acre nature preserve features mature native woodlands, trails, wetlands
and butterfly gardens. Some birds include groove-billed ani, long-billed
thrasher, olive sparrow and green jay. More than 70 kinds of butterflies have
been documented on the property. Visitor center open 8 a.m.–4 p.m. Sun.–Fri. and
7 a.m.–7 p.m. Sat. Admission charge. 1101 South Texas Blvd. (F.M. 88).
